Learning through loss

This site is dedicated to our son Nathan whose life ended at age 20 by suicide.
It shares memories of his life and funeral, what we have learned through this loss, and helpful resources to those who are grieving or facing mental health challenges.

Suicide is the third leading cause of death for ages 15 to 24. For us, this is much more than a statistic. Each occurrence is the loss of a precious life and the source of indescribable pain for the family. We hope that this site helps prevent this kind of tragedy.

Read our article, "When Love is Not Enough." It relates the story of our son's death, the lessons we have learned, and the suggestions we have for parents and individuals. We hope that you will read it, share it with others, and post your comments. Click here to read it.

Based on what we have learned from Nathan's death we have prepared a website for parents with resources related to children's emotional and mental health. We share a five-step approach of steps we would do, knowing what we do now: Research family history, Study potential problems, Educate your child, Evaluate your child, and Take action.
